Thoughts on Christmas
Isn't it fascinating? There is a story that people all over the world share with each other. And you can't even tell whose story it is anymore. There is this story of a birth - and that makes me long for God. He comes to you, infects you with something like the certainty of God. That lifts you up, you come back to yourself and know: you are loved, respected, wanted, because someone is behind you. To lean on. So that you can endure what cannot be endured.
We light candles during Advent and say: Bring light into our darkness and warmth into our hearts. Sit in front of a lit candle and simply look into the flame. The flickering light of the candle may awaken many longings in you, longings for love, for warmth, for home, for deep peace.
Advent and Christmas tell you that your longings are not illusions, but promise a different world, and, so to speak, a world in advance - a world in which the light of God spreads warmth and love, in which you can truly be at home, in which a flower blossoms "in the deep midwinter".

Then dress warmly, bring a large thermos flask of tea and let yourself be inspired. A personalised tour of the tower and vaults or a tour of the church is something very special, especially during the Advent and Christmas season. On request, we will be happy to offer you a tour at the time of your choice. We also endeavour to accommodate thematic focuses, language and other requests. The guided tours are organised by our volunteer team. Please note that for organisational reasons we need about two weeks' notice.
