Thematic Tours

Would you like to receive in-depth information on a specific topic on a guided tour? We are also happy to offer guided tours focussing on specific places or themes in the church. This could be, for example:

Antwerp Marian Altar

The history of the veneration of saints can be explained particularly well in the Chapel of the Virgin Mary - especially the cult of the Virgin Mary using the example of the altar: What do the depictions mean? How are the altar and its architectural surroundings connected?

The Lübeck Dance of Death

The original medieval Dance of Death from St Marien was lost during the Second World War. The guided tour explains the origins and significance of the Dance of Death depictions by Bernd Notke and Alfred Mahlau.

Faith and Art
There are many sacred works of art in the high choir, which we will show you and explain in detail: Crucifix, high altar, Heiber altar, baptismal font and sacrament house. The tour is framed by biblical texts and music.

In the Footsteps of Holy Women
St Marien has been Protestant since the Reformation - but there are also statues of saints here. The tour begins with a general introduction and continues with the life stories of St Anne, St Dorothea, St Catherine and others, based on biblical sources and legends.

Church Explorations
We also offer educational church explorations for kindergarten groups, school classes and adults.

Music
We also offer special tours on the subject of church music, composers, organs etc.

Get in touch with us and together we will find the perfect tour to suit you and your group and your interests. Either via the enquiry form above or via our contact page.
